In order to ensure best possible results, I ask you to consider several points relating to the delivery of your mix for mastering.
Bit resolution: As high as possible.
32 bits if possible (in other words Nuendo / Cubase) or 24 bits (Protools / Logic).
Sampling rate: 44.1 kHz for CD Redbook, 48 or 96 kHz for DVD audio or video
File formats: Wave, Aiff, SD2, Wave64
Media: CD-ROM (ISO 9660) or DVD-ROM
CD-ROM is the most data-secure format. CD Redbook only supports 16 bits and is more
error-prone. Avoid DAT too. External USB or Firewire hard disks are also good media.
Online delivery: Please upload only onesingle file archiv (*.zip or *.rar) to our ftp server. Access data will be supplied on request.
Dithering: Please do not dither.
Fades: Please do not fade.
Only exception: arranged fades in which different tracks must be faded separately.
Please give indications as to desired fades.
(Fades which have been undertaken prior to dynamics processing tend to have a pumping effect following dynamics processing in mastering).
Beginnings / Endings: Allow enough time for edits. Please leave at least 500 ms at the start of the recording. This applies in particular to tracks which have been mixed on analog consoles.(Required preview running time (predict) / fingerprints for denoising)
Compression / total limiting: slight peak limiting is permitted, but please no finalizers or similar! Average loudness should not exceed –15 dB / RMS (depending on genre).
Track labeling: Please give the song files the correct track number: ‘09-my song.wav’
Track list: Please do not forget to add your wishes and commentary.
Information for CD text (Interpreter/Song name/Text/Music), ISRC if desired.
Reference tracks: You are welcome to supply 2 or 3 reference tracks.
When sending data for a mastering please let us know the correct billing address and desired payment method.
